The fig tree in our front yard has been producing a fruit this year. The whole tree is laden with green figs, but from experience only the few that turn ripe are edible. Over the weekend, we saw four that were ready to be plucked. Here's Adam with one.

Another two were too high. We walked around and stared for a long time. As Adam described it, "we were like two predators circling the prey."

Finally Adam managed to reach one by climbing on a ladder and bending the branch down.

I think that will be it for the fig harvest this year. The weather turned cold suddenly and we had to turn on the heat in the house. But it also means that Halloween candy is coming soon, which is a lot easier to gather.

Did the figs taste especially sweet?
