What we Mead
Yesterday we took our first trip to Lake Mead. Both Adam and I agreed we haven't seen a large body of water for far too long and we wanted to find a secluded spot to commune with nature. The enthusiasm for the trip mostly manifest itself in a Costco shopping spree where Adam bought a variety of camping equipment. The afternoon basically consisted of our exploration and testing of our new purchases. Note the following:

Our home away from home. Universally agreed to be a "good tent."

Our air mattress with a battery-powered air pump.

The mattress was completely necessary, even though we didn't stay overnight. It's a "good mattress."

Our cooler, full of bottled water, pita and hummus. Good cooler.

You can't see it in this picture, but he's sitting on a kiddie lawn chair (good chairs). Also not pictured is our new flashlight/lantern. We left the lake while it was still light, but Adam managed to find an excuse to use the flashlight when he claimed to see a fox dart into a hole. I didn't see the fox, even with the advantage of the (good) flashlight's powerful beam of light.

Our satisfaction with our equipment even extended to my car, which had to navigate over the dirt roads.

Adam repeatedly commented on the goodness of the 4-wheel drive.

I was a little more skeptical, since the crummy truck on the left also made it over the terrain. But we have a handsome car nonetheless.

Overall it was a pleasant trip, and it was very refreshing to see water in the desert.

Come and see another very small body of water - the deepest in the world, the Dead Sea -in the desert in Israel, in December.
